Design

In a TV news broadcast, many minute design choices contribute to the overall visual appeal. This is no different on InFocus, where slight tweaks of color correction or small adjustments of the anchors’ positioning go a long way for the final product. Although these design choices may seem like they don't matter much, without them, the show would look very different. One important design aspect of the video broadcasts is the announcement graphics. While editing our shows, I’m responsible for filling in the information for the graphics in a concise and accurate manner. Serving as a simple yet effective design choice, these announcement graphics are helpful visual cues presenting pertinent information to the school community.

During InFocus's Spirit Week coverage, I created a leaderboard graphic depicting each grade's up-to-date scores.

Another tool that has been especially useful for creating graphics is Canva. Over the years, I’ve constructed various designs, including “watch now” graphics for shows and reminders for upcoming sporting events being live streamed by InFocus. Through producing these graphics, I’ve gained experience working with margins and spacing, colors, text, images, and animations.
