Web and Social Media
Every Tuesday and Thursday at 9 AM, the teachers of Palo Alto High School visit infocusnews.tv to show the latest broadcast to their class. Thus, getting our show from the studio, to Premiere Pro, to Youtube, and finally to the website is a vital process. In addition to editing the show, I’m also responsible for uploading it to our Youtube channel and communicating with our Web/User managers, who then paste the video’s embed code into the website. Maintaining this streamlined operation over the past three years has been incredibly helpful for meeting our bi-weekly schedule and ensuring the school and local community has a reliable way to view the show.

In addition to updating the latest show on the website, we also upload the individual video packages that air on our broadcasts. After noticing that we were falling behind in this department last year, I created a spreadsheet where I update the latest stories and allow for our Web/User managers to check off when a story has been uploaded to Youtube and the website. Keeping this checklist up-to-date guarantees that any website visitors can browse through all of our news, feature, sports, and entertainment stories.

On the social media front, I’ve found that the optimal way to engage with our audience has been through Instagram. Throughout the past few years, I’ve regularly checked up with our Social Media Managers to confirm that significant packages, year/semester recaps, and other relevant content are uploaded to Instagram. Additionally, as an Executive Producer team, we have encouraged our managers to capture moments from team-bonding events, behind the scenes of a show, and other miscellaneous content to post on our Instagram story, allowing the school community to get an inside look at our production process and even encouraging some students to join the publication.
